BC Home Builders Licensing Class

Upcoming Course | Customer Service and Home Warranty (BLDC 1010)

I will be instructing Customer Service and Home Warranty (BLDC 1010) at BCIT beginning April 13. This course runs once a week on Mondays for 12 weeks and is part of the Home Builder Licensing Program.

In residential construction, customer service beings at the point of sale and extends through possession, warranty, and often years beyond. Builders are not only delivering a product, but managing expectations, communication, and accountability throughout the entire homeowner experience.

This course focuses on developing a structured and proactive approach to customer service within the homebuilding industry. Participants will learn how to build a customer service framework, align internal processes, and create a culture that supports consistent, high-quality delivery.

A key component of the course is understanding how customer service and home warranty intersect. Participants will gain clarity on how warranty programs operate in British Columbia, the responsibilities of all parties involved, and how strong communication and process management can prevent disputes before they arise.

The course also covers practical elements of the homeowner journey, including orientation, walk-through procedures, performance standards, and strategies for managing dissatisfaction and conflict.

By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the tools to manage customer expectations more effectively, reduce risk, and deliver a more consistent and professional client experience.
